A message from our principal
Maricopa's Core Values

Dear Saddleback Community,

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. We are now entering our third year as a school. It has been a pleasure watching your children grow and learn at Saddleback these past few years.

Please join me in welcoming the following teachers to Saddleback Elementary:  Kindergarten, teacher, Miss Amanda Schmidt, First Grade teachers, Mrs. Susan Blevins and Mrs. Jenelle White, Second Grade teacher, Mrs. Dulce Petagara, Fourth Grade teacher, Mrs. Deanne Smart, and Fifth Grade teacher, Mrs. Heidi Mabey. Miss Rachel Curry has joined our Resource department from Wells Middle School and Academic Coach, Mrs. Felicia Williams has joined us from Santa Rosa Elementary School. We are thrilled to have a registered nurse on our staff this year. Mrs. Beth Fabrik has joined our team as our school nurse. Rosie Nadwodny, our new attendance clerk will be greeting you in the front office.

Saddleback will continue to add to our teaching staff with the addition of three more teachers within the next few weeks. These positions are possible due to a grant from the Ak-Chin community. Kindergarten, Third and Fourth grades will each be adding another teacher to their grade level teams. This will reduce class sizes considerably and add to the amazing teaching talent that already exists at Saddleback. Thank you Ak-Chin for your outstanding contribution!

AIMS/Stanford Ten testing results for 2nd through 5th grade students from the 2009-2010 school year will go home with students on Monday, August 9th. Only students that took either the AIMS or the Stanford Ten assessment at Saddleback last school year will be bringing results home. We will be testing students for our Gifted and Talented programming during the week of August 30th. Parent and teacher referrals are due to Mrs. Amick by August 20th. Parents can pick up referral forms in the school office.

Please note important dates for the month of August:

I am happy to report that Saddleback is a Performing Plus school for the 2009-2010 school year. Saddleback did not make AYP this year due to low test scores in math with our 3rd grade, low socio-economic students. We will be disaggregating our student data to determine the skill areas that need reinforcement. All other subject areas and grades continue to Meet or Exceed State Standards at a progressing level.

At Saddleback Elementary School, we are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment where all students can learn and all students can succeed. Although we certainly embrace and celebrate our Performing Plus status, we are taking the change in our AYP status very seriously.

We appreciate your continued support and encourage your involvement.

Sincerely,

Jamye Amick
